Sustainability – the newest benchmark

We hear the word sustainability in many areas of our life today. An example is countries that consider sustainability when making decisions to meet present needs while preserving resources for future generations. Sustainability plays a role in relationships – whether with spouses, friends, family, colleagues or lovers. How many of our relationships are truly sustainable, or do they come and go? In politics, reforms such as health care are judged as to whether they have sustainability. And what about sports? All teams experience wins and losses, but really great teams find a way to have sustainability. I'm sure there are many more examples that we hear daily. Anyway, here’s hoping this blog has sustainability!

Seeking adventure aboard a Canadian Snow Train

To celebrate our second anniversary this year, we booked a VIA Rail Snow Train traveling cross-country from Toronto to Vancouver…site of this year’s Winter Olympics. We were lured to the rails by watching such great films as The Darjeeling Limited, Trans-Siberian, Polar Express, North by Northwest, and Narrow Margin. (I won’t mention Murder on the Orient Express for obvious reasons…)

I have visions of romantic candlelit dinners in the dining car, views of the spectacular Canadian Rockies from a domed observation car, chatting with traveling companions from all over the world, and enjoying our own sitting room by day that converts to berths at night. Will it offer the same sense of adventure depicted in films? I hope so!
